LDP urgently calls for higher price for industrial apples

The Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) is calling for immediate intervention to resolve the problems faced by apple growers, who, according to the party, are in extremely difficult circumstances.

The LDP says that only 4 denars per kilogram are currently being offered for industrial apples, while growers also receive a subsidy of 2 denars. According to the party, this amount remains well below production costs, estimated at around 10 denars per kilogram.

For this reason, the party is calling for the purchase price of industrial apples to be set at a minimum of 12 denars per kilogram. It says that drought, together with rising fuel, pesticide and other agricultural input prices, has made the current price economically unsustainable.

If sales below production cost continue, the LDP warns that interest in growing apples could decline, particularly in Resen and the surrounding areas.

The party says it will also propose a legal solution for organizing the purchase of strategic agricultural crops, including tobacco, grapes, rice, peppers and apples.

The LDP also says it will support organized action by apple growers, including the provision of free legal assistance.
