LDK Authorizes Abdixhiku to Hold Talks with LVV, Haziri Outlines Three Conditions for Cooperation

Delegates of the Democratic League of Kosovo have authorized party leader Lumir Abdixhiku to engage in talks on cooperation with the Vetëvendosje Movement. LDK deputy leader Lutfi Haziri announced the decision after the party’s Extraordinary Assembly concluded, explaining that an agreement would be possible only on the basis of three fundamental principles.

In a statement to the media, Haziri said that the request from fellow party members was concluded today in a peaceful and friendly spirit. According to him, the delegates also asked Abdixhiku to pursue cooperation with LVV, although the outcome of this process does not depend solely on the LDK.

Haziri explained that the first principle is to reach an agreement on all issues or, alternatively, to have no agreement at all. As the second principle, he listed the state agenda, sectoral policies, governing programs and the interests of the Republic. He stressed that Kosovo faces a demanding agenda and that, over the past two and a half years, no work has been done in the country and no process or situation has been addressed.

The third principle, according to Haziri, concerns the allocation of responsibilities in line with the first two criteria. He said that each party must assume roles and responsibilities defined through a cooperation agreement; otherwise, the LDK initiates processes.

The LDK deputy leader clarified that the division of responsibilities would be agreed upon only after the parties reach consensus on all issues. After that, the LDK will also select the appropriate names.

Speaking about his party’s role, Haziri said this was not only about the president, as no major process in Kosovo begins or concludes without the LDK. According to him, this is being demonstrated tonight and will be demonstrated again tomorrow.

He added that both the leading party and the other parties have experienced cooperation with the LDK. Haziri said they have worked and cooperated only with this party and that all of them seek a partnership with it. He urged that the LDK’s willingness not be viewed as a weakness, emphasizing that cooperation is a value for the party, but not a necessity. If cooperation is not achieved in the process, he said, then “good luck to the other parties.”
