Lutfi Haziri, deputy chairman of the Democratic League of Kosovo, said his party could resolve within 24 hours all matters of principle related to a possible agreement with the Vetëvendosje Movement on forming Kosovo’s new institutions.

The LDK has set agreement on all institutions — the Assembly, the Government and the Presidency — as the basis for a possible deal, or else no agreement at all. This also includes the state agenda, sectoral policies, government programs, the country’s interests and how responsibilities would be divided.
Haziri told Radio Free Europe that these three principles had served as a point of unity for the LDK Parliamentary Group. According to him, the party’s Assembly has called for this right to be exercised to the fullest, while how the demand will ultimately be concluded will be determined through negotiations with the LVV.
He recalled that Vetëvendosje had been informed of the LDK’s positions from the first formal talks, held on July 10 between Albin Kurti, Lumir Abdixhiku and former President Vjosa Osmani.
Now, according to Haziri, it is the LVV’s responsibility to state clearly in the upcoming rounds of dialogue whether it accepts and respects these principles.
The LDK deputy chairman said that, if an agreement is reached, the parliamentary group’s unity could be maintained through cooperation within the party.
“These are not simple issues, but if there is political will and readiness on the part of the LVV, the LDK can resolve all matters of principle within 24 hours. There are no divisions within the LDK over these issues, while the division of responsibilities is the final issue,” Haziri said.
He said he believed in the political maturity of the LDK Parliamentary Group and its ability to preserve unity around the decisions of the party leadership.
Haziri also reiterated that at the party assembly held on July 30, an agreement had been reached for the LDK to cooperate with the party of acting Prime Minister Albin Kurti on establishing the institutions.
