Kyiv once again under attack, 2 dead and 10 injured; Poland puts fighter jets on alert

After several days of relative calm in the Ukrainian capital, Russia and Ukraine exchanged attacks overnight.

Local military authorities announced that Russian airstrikes on Kyiv had left at least two people dead and 10 injured. The death toll could rise as emergency teams continue their operations in the affected areas.

For three days, Russian attacks on the Ukrainian capital had been halted, coinciding with a visit to Ukraine by U.S. President Donald Trump’s envoys.

Saratov hit by drones

At the same time, a Ukrainian drone attack struck the Russian city of Saratov. Regional Governor Roman Busargin said that civilian infrastructure had been damaged and that at least 10 people had been injured, including three children.

Poland activates readiness measures

The Operational Command of the Polish Armed Forces announced that fighter jets had begun operating in the country’s airspace. At the same time, ground-based air-defense systems and radar reconnaissance equipment were also placed on alert.

Polish authorities explained that these measures were aimed at protecting areas near the Ukrainian border, which are considered to be at greater risk from developments in the war.

The latest escalation comes as diplomatic efforts to reach an agreement between Moscow and Kyiv continue, although no visible progress toward a lasting ceasefire has yet been made.
