During his address, Kurti praised the historic role of Kosovo’s women in the country’s development and resilience, while underscoring the obligation of institutions to turn this contribution into more opportunities, inclusion and a role in decision-making processes.

He declared that women’s empowerment is not only related to gender equality, but constitutes a direct investment in Kosovo’s economic, social and democratic progress. According to him, this approach has been supported by the executive through public policies, an adequate budget and concrete measures.

Kurti mentioned the direct employment of over 12,000 women, the allocation of scholarships for girls, financial assistance for mothers and children, and investments in women’s entrepreneurship and agriculture. He also highlighted special measures for women who have survived violence, including the provision of free legal aid and wage subsidies.

According to the prime minister, the role of women goes beyond the economic and institutional dimension, as they also make an important contribution to peacebuilding and ensuring security.

“Kosovo’s experience proves that peace is not created only at negotiation tables. It is also built within families, communities and institutions. Kosovo’s women have been and remain peacebuilders, supporters of families and communities, professionals in security institutions and voices of justice,” Kurti said.

He added that the inclusion of women in the field of peace and security should not be seen simply as a matter of representation, but as a condition for the country’s long-term stability.

Kurti stressed that Kosovo cannot grow stronger while failing to use the potential of half of society. For this reason, according to him, investments must continue in education, employment, entrepreneurship, health care and institutions that guarantee equal opportunities.
