Kurti meets Albanian leaders from the Valley and reiterates Kosovo’s support

Kosovo’s Prime Minister, Albin Kurti, received political and institutional representatives of the Albanians of Presheva, Bujanoc and Medvegja at the Prime Minister’s Office, on the second working day after his re-election as head of the government.

Kurti announced the meeting in a Facebook post, explaining that the discussions included representatives of several Albanian political entities from the Presheva Valley, the heads of the municipalities and representatives of the Albanian National Council.

The meeting was attended by Shaip Kamberi of the PVD, Visar Memeti of the APN, Shqiprim Musliu of the LPD, Sami Salihu of the LR, Armend Aliu of the AL, Sali Salihu of the PD, as well as Agim Sabedini and representatives of the PDSH. Also present were the mayor of the Municipality of Presheva, Ardita Sinani; the mayor of the Municipality of Bujanoc, Arbër Pajaziti; the chairman of the Albanian National Council, Enkel Rexhepi; and Arben Ferati from Medvegja.

Kurti said the meeting served to hear the views of representatives of the Valley and discuss the difficulties faced by Albanians there. According to him, political coordination is important for protecting their rights and strengthening their representation, particularly in the Assembly.

He stressed that the Albanians of the Valley need cooperation and shared responsibility. Although differences between parties are part of democracy, he said, the interests of citizens should be the point where the commitments of all actors converge.

The prime minister also underlined that support for the Albanians of Presheva, Bujanoc and Medvegja remains an ongoing commitment of the Government of the Republic of Kosovo. He said Kosovo would stand by them in protecting their rights, preserving their identity and improving their everyday living conditions.
