Kurti at the Berlin Summit: The moment has come for Kosovo to gain candidate status and begin talks with the EU

During the Berlin Process Summit being held in Montenegro, Kosovo’s Prime Minister Albin Kurti addressed reporters and stressed that the time had come for the country to obtain candidate-country status and begin accession negotiations with the European Union.

He said that Kosovo has democratic governance, institutional stability, economic growth and a full commitment to the European path.

“We must keep our focus firmly on integration into Europe. Kosovo is an electoral, liberal and egalitarian democracy. We have democratic functionality and institutional stability. We have economic development and unwavering commitment. Now the moment has come for our country to obtain candidate-country status and open accession negotiations with the EU. Therefore, today and every other day, I will call on all leaders of the European Union to request an opinion from the European Commission on this matter.” Kurti said.
