Kremlin warns: New US sanctions hinder peace efforts

The imposition of further US economic sanctions on Russia will make efforts to reach a peaceful resolution to the war in Ukraine significantly more difficult, the Kremlin warned.

The response followed the US House of Representatives’ approval of a broad package of sanctions and tariffs aimed at increasing economic pressure on Moscow. The bill has now been sent to President Donald Trump for his signature, while the White House has confirmed that he is expected to sign it.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov described the initiative as an “unfriendly act.” Speaking to reporters, he said that “any additional sanctions from the US will certainly complicate efforts to find a peace agreement in Ukraine.”

At the same time, Washington-mediated initiatives to end the conflict have remained stalled for months. This situation persists despite President Trump sending two special envoys to Moscow and Kyiv earlier this month in an effort to revive the negotiation process.
