The two victims, a man and a woman both around 30 years old, are suspected of having been killed with firearms on Friday in the village of Livoç i Ulët in Gjilan. Another person was injured in the incident.
KWN has stated that no previous disagreement or conflict can be used as justification for killing a woman. The organization has called for the case to be fully investigated and for the person responsible to face justice.
“Violence against women is not a private matter, but a serious violation of human rights, to which institutions must respond responsibly and without delay,” KWN said in its statement.
The Kosovo Women’s Network has called on institutions and society to remain continuously engaged by taking concrete measures to prevent violence and protect women’s safety.
KWN also announced that it provides free legal counseling to victims of gender-based violence.
