Kosovo Police and the US expand partnership against transnational crime

On September 11, 2026, Kosovo Police Director General Colonel Gazmend Hoxha received the new adviser and expert on transnational crime issues from the United States Department of Justice’s International Criminal Investigative Training Assistance Program (DOJ-ICITAP) in Kosovo for an introductory meeting. Hoxha was accompanied by senior Kosovo Police management officials.

The discussions focused on the institution’s main priorities and opportunities to deepen cooperation in the fight against transnational crime, Kosovo Police said.

Hoxha said that Kosovo Police remains fully prepared to continue its close cooperation with the US Embassy, DOJ-ICITAP and other international partners.

According to him, this joint support is essential to strengthening Kosovo Police’s capacity to confront transnational criminal organizations.

During the meeting, the Director General expressed the institution’s gratitude for the long-standing assistance provided by the United States, particularly through the DOJ-ICITAP program.

The meeting was held on a symbolic date for the American partners. On this occasion, Hoxha joined them in commemorating the victims of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks.

Kosovo Police said Hoxha recognized the impact of these events on law enforcement and policing worldwide. He emphasized that they had prompted new approaches to preventing and responding to terrorism, as well as preparing institutions to address emerging security threats.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the parties pledged to consolidate the long-term partnership between Kosovo Police, the US Embassy, INL and ICITAP, while continuing joint efforts against transnational crime.
