Kosovo Delegation Takes Part in DEA International Conference in Argentina

In Buenos Aires, Argentina, from August 18 to 20, 2026, a Kosovo delegation took part in the 40th DEA International Conference on Drug Law Enforcement, IDEC XL.

According to a statement from the Kosovo Police, the participation was made possible with the support and coordination of the U.S. Department of Justice’s International Criminal Investigative Training Assistance Program (DOJ-ICITAP), the U.S. Embassy in Pristina, the Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs (INL), and the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) office in Sofia.

The Kosovo Police were represented at the conference by Reshat Murseli, director of the Directorate for the Investigation of Narcotics Trafficking (DHTN), and Mr. Naim Raci, head of the Central Sector at the Directorate for the Investigation of Narcotics.

Under the motto “Justice Through Strength and Unity,” DEA leaders underscored the need to unite alliances in the fight against foreign terrorist organizations. They also praised cooperation in confronting drug-trafficking networks, corruption, precursor chemicals, new synthetic drugs, money laundering and violence at the global level. According to the police, cooperation brings strength, while unity enables the implementation of justice.

The meeting in Argentina brought together senior officials from around 110 countries worldwide. Discussions focused on new global threats linked to synthetic drugs, maritime crime routes, illicit financial flows, technological developments and the broad challenges posed by transnational organized crime.

As part of the conference, the Kosovo delegation held a meeting with the special agent in charge for Europe, Ms. Marissa Lee. The parties discussed their cooperation to date, professionalism and the impact of this cooperation on strengthening the capacities of the Kosovo Police, as well as interregional and international cooperation in the field of security. Both sides reaffirmed the need to continue cooperation against narcotics and transnational organized crime networks.

Representatives of the Kosovo Police also held discussions with counterparts from various international law enforcement agencies. The talks addressed opportunities to deepen cooperation, exchange information, share best practices and undertake joint operational actions in the fight against global drug trafficking.

The Kosovo Police said it remains firmly committed to international law enforcement cooperation and expressed deep gratitude to DOJ-ICITAP, INL and the U.S. Embassy in Pristina for their steadfast support in building a safer and more sustainable future.
