Kosovo holds regional conference on financial integrity as part of the Berlin Process

The Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Kosovo held the regional conference “Beyond Compliance: Building Resilient Economies Through Financial Integrity” in Pristina as part of the Berlin Process. This was the first time the Government of Kosovo had organized an event as part of this process, while it was the second Berlin Process event to be held in Pristina this year.

The conference opened with speeches by Minister of Finance Hekuran Murati, Montenegro’s ambassador to Kosovo, Bernard Çobaj, who represented the country chairing the Berlin Process this year, and Germany’s deputy ambassador to Kosovo, Silke Bellmann, representing the country that initiated the process.

The event brought together officials from local and regional institutions, representatives of international organizations, experts and professionals in the field. Discussions focused on preventing and combating illicit finance, improving inter-institutional and cross-border cooperation, as well as the role of financial investigations and the recovery of assets derived from illegal activity.

Participants stressed that formal compliance with standards and legal obligations is not enough without effective implementation in practice, coordination among institutions and the regular exchange of information. Since illicit finance extends beyond national borders, addressing this phenomenon requires uninterrupted cooperation between the countries of the region and international partners.

The meeting provided an opportunity to share experiences and successful practices, with the aim of advancing financial integrity, consolidating the rule of law and strengthening trust in institutions. Another objective was to support more transparent, sustainable and resilient economies.
