Kosovo Genocide – Open Wound” Center welcomes deputies’ joint stance on the Hague judgment

The “Kosovo Genocide – Open Wound” Center has praised the consensus of 99 deputies of the Assembly of Kosovo, who adopted a declaration concerning the judgment of the Specialist Chambers against Hashim Thaçi, Jakup Krasniqi, Kadri Veseli and Rexhep Selimi.

In its response, the center said that the declaration of September 28, 2026, represents a clear position by the deputies, who emphasized that no judicial decision can alter the historical truth of the war in Kosovo.

“We welcomed the fact that, through the declaration of September 28, 2026, the deputies took a firm stance and emphasized that no judgment can undo the historical truth of the war in Kosovo. Through this position, they expressed the will of the citizens of Kosovo to describe the September 16 judgment as unjust, as well as to reject as unacceptable the conclusion that a common criminal purpose existed to achieve Kosovo’s independence,” the response said.

The center said it firmly believes that only through unity can the demands made by the deputies of the state institutions of the Republic of Kosovo be fulfilled. According to the center, the institutions must take every necessary measure to preserve the truth and the purity of the Kosovo people’s liberation war, as well as to draft a joint state strategy.

According to the Center, this strategy should coordinate legal, institutional and diplomatic actions, with the aim of protecting and affirming the full historical truth about Kosovo’s just war for freedom and liberation.

“We are convinced that the professional implementation of the aforementioned demands will lead to a just decision: the dissolution of the Specialist Chambers and the release of the hostages held in Scheveningen prison in The Hague,” the response by the “Kosovo Genocide – Open Wound” Center said.
