Kosovo Customs seizes cigarettes and sweets suspected of containing cannabis in a postal package

During a customs inspection of a postal shipment, Kosovo Customs identified substances suspected to be cannabis.

The shipment was selected for a detailed inspection after scanning equipment flagged irregularities and a customs officer became suspicious about its contents.

A physical inspection after the package was opened uncovered ten cigarettes filled with a substance suspected to be cannabis, as well as two pieces of cake suspected of containing cannabis.

Kosovo Police’s relevant Anti-Drug Unit has been notified of the case and is expected to take further steps in accordance with its legal powers and applicable procedures. The shipment and its contents have been detained for further institutional processing.

Kosovo Customs said it would continue its efforts to prevent smuggling and the illegal circulation of goods, in cooperation with the competent institutions handling such cases.
