Kosovo Customs clarifies deadline and right to appeal decisions

Kosovo Customs has reminded citizens that they have the right to appeal its decisions when they relate to the implementation of customs legislation and directly and individually affect the person concerned.

This right is stipulated in Article 27 of Customs and Excise Code No. 08/L-247.

According to the Customs announcement, anyone may challenge a decision issued by the institution concerning the implementation of customs legislation if the decision directly and individually affects them.

An appeal is also permitted when a person has requested that a decision be issued but has not received it within the stipulated deadline.

Customs clarified that this right may also be exercised when an applicant does not receive the relevant decision within the deadlines established by the Code.

In informational material published by the institution, the right to appeal is described as a mechanism that ensures protection and fair treatment.

Customs emphasized that awareness of the parties’ rights is an important element in ensuring transparent and fair customs procedures.

According to Code No. 08/L-247, an appeal must be submitted within 30 days of notification of the act or after the expiry of the deadline set for issuing the decision. Customs, meanwhile, must decide on the appeal within 60 days.
