Kleidi Memo: Protest Tore Down the Political Facade and Alarmed Rama, Generation Z Is Ready for Change

Kleidi Memo, a student and member of a student group, analyzed the development of protests in the country in the News24 studio, highlighting the decisive role of young people in confronting Prime Minister Edi Rama’s government. According to him, the protest movement has torn down the facade of deception that politics has built over the years.

Commenting on the prime minister’s response to the protests, Memo said that Edi Rama had panicked. He said the head of government initially tried to mock the protest and link its organization to external forces, although the reality, according to the student, shows otherwise.

Memo argued that since 2013, Rama has sought to create the impression that everything in the country is functioning normally. However, he said the latest protest had brought down the facade previously erected not only by Edi Rama and the Socialist Party, but also by the Democratic Party.

In his view, young people are the force that drives change in every country, and Generation Z is therefore prepared to bring it about. The student said that the group to which he belongs also represents the students attending the protest and has established a movement open to every student who wants to join the confrontation with the old political class, which he accused of acting solely in its own personal interests.

Memo also stressed that there are numerous grievances and demands, particularly for improvements in education and healthcare. According to him, the government has taken over every aspect of Albanians’ daily lives.

Finally, he emphasized that the students had carried out several symbolic actions and that these initiatives would continue. Among them, he mentioned the unveiling of a large banner at the Polytechnic University.
