July 23 Protest Moves in Front of Parliament, Activists: Let’s Make It Clear to MPs They Don’t Represent Us

On July 23, citizens will gather in front of the Albanian Parliament building in the morning hours, precisely during the time when the next plenary session will be held.

During a meeting held in “Skënderbej” Square, one of the organizers explained to News24 that the choice of this timing aims to communicate to lawmakers that the people do not feel represented by the current legislature.

The activist stressed that the July 23 mobilization constitutes a new stage in the expression of civic discontent, following a long period of opposition in the capital. He added that several other actions are planned for the coming days, for which he gave no details but described as surprises. He also highlighted the complete disconnection of students from a parliament that, according to him, emerged precisely from the protest movements and does not enjoy the support of the majority of those who have taken to the streets, calling into question their legitimacy as representatives of the people.
