Divjakë Mayor Josif Gorrea offered an explanation at a Municipal Council meeting regarding the position he took during a meeting held in Kuç with Prime Minister Edi Rama, where the Territorial Reform was discussed.

Gorrea said the meeting was held behind closed doors, while stressing that his position on preserving the Municipality of Divjakë has not changed.

“It was a closed-door meeting. We held extensive discussions as a political group, which I consider a major step forward. Each of us expressed our opinion. The country’s prime minister left the discussion open. Everyone was free to express their honest opinion. Some emotional and hasty mayors interrupted him, just as has happened here with us.

I am speaking candidly about what happened. At that meeting, too, I was not required to speak for others, but for myself. My position has been clear. It has not changed at any point from what I have stated. At that meeting, I also strongly defended the reasons why the municipality should remain. First, there are several discrepancies in the Mazniku Commission’s findings.

I identified several errors that I will also bring to your attention. Second, I drew a comparison between Lushnje and Divjakë. Perhaps the Commission, in that passage, is referring to the fact that we held a meeting at which we were present.
