Jehona Lushaku accuses Vetëvendosje of blocking the constitution of the Assembly

LDK MP Jehona Lushaku has reacted to the failure to continue the procedure for electing the deputy speakers of the Assembly, attributing responsibility to the Vetëvendosje Movement.

According to her, the constitution process remains suspended because the largest parliamentary group is not supporting the candidates proposed by the other parties. Lushaku described the situation as unusual and unprecedented.

“It is unprecedented for the constitution process not to continue because of a lack of support from the largest parliamentary group for the candidates for deputy speakers proposed by the other parties,” she declared.

Lushaku announced that the LDK had put forward Kujtim Shala as its candidate for the post of deputy speaker of the Assembly. She said that his experience and qualifications would be an asset to the Assembly of Kosovo.

“As a political entity, we have a duty to propose the best candidates. We selected Kujtim Shala because we believe that his qualifications honor the Assembly of Kosovo, and we continue to support our proposal,” she said after the conclusion of the constitutive session.

The LDK MP added that the country had now exceeded the deadlines set by the Constitution. She said that, although Kosovo was being given an opportunity to resolve the situation through goodwill, the process was not moving forward because of VV.

“The largest parliamentary group must remember that we have now exceeded the constitutional deadlines. We are facing a situation in which, in the interest of goodwill, we are trying to give Kosovo an opportunity, but today this is not happening because of VV,” Lushaku said.
