Lawyer Arbër Jashari has reacted to the indictment filed by the Special Prosecutor’s Office against Fatmir Sheholli. He is suspected of having cooperated with Serbia’s Security and Intelligence Agency (BIA), while he also faces suspicion in a blackmail case involving more than 13,000 euros.

According to Jashari, this case, as well as the previous espionage indictments, should serve as a serious warning to institutions and citizens. He warned that the threat cannot be sought only beyond the borders, as it may also exist within the country, reported “Bota sot.”

The latest indictment by the Special Prosecutor’s Office against defendant F.Sh., like the earlier proceedings against individuals suspected of espionage, constitutes a warning that should increase the vigilance and awareness of every person who lives, works in and loves this country.
In our beloved Kosovo, it is increasingly being demonstrated that espionage has been a major problem.
We have often imagined the enemy as someone who comes from outside with tanks and cannons to conquer us, while forgetting the possibility that it could harm us from within. It is like a worm that enters a tree and dries it out.
Efforts to divide us, destabilize the country and change our social identity are sometimes easy to identify, especially when absurd debates are incited or topics that history discarded long ago are revived. But at other times, they appear in attractive and sophisticated forms. For this reason, we must all be careful, without exception, especially those who have greater public exposure, as they may serve evil even unknowingly.
The solution lies in a strong state, supported by stable institutions and honest people, where upholding the law is the responsibility and concern of each and every one of us.
Jashari praised all the professionals and honest people within the ranks of AKI, the police and the prosecution who, through their work, are helping protect national security.
