Italy, 47-year-old in Ivrea tries to set his partner on fire after an argument, stopped at the last moment

A 47-year-old man of Moldovan origin has been arrested in Ivrea, near Turin, Italy, on suspicion of attempted murder after allegedly trying to set his live-in partner on fire during a dispute at their home.

The incident was recorded in the San Bernardo area. According to Italian authorities, the 47-year-old, who was in a severely impaired psychological and physical state due to alcohol consumption, doused the woman with fuel during the violent confrontation with the intention of setting her on fire.

A friend of the couple, who was in the house at the time, intervened immediately and prevented the tragedy. He stepped between the two and managed to restrain the aggressor’s arm, preventing him from lighting the lighter until the carabinieri arrived.

At the same time, the victim herself had alerted law enforcement, who went to the scene without delay. The carabinieri neutralized the 47-year-old and seized his lighter, thus preventing an incident with tragic consequences.

Fortunately, no one was injured in the incident. By order of the Ivrea Prosecutor’s Office, which is leading the investigation, the arrested man was taken to a detention facility, where he will remain at the disposal of the judicial authorities.
