Israeli Strategist David Zaikin Against Edi Rama: Drug Money Has Flooded In During Your Rule! Albania Needs New Leadership

Prime Minister Edi Rama’s statements in his latest interview with the Financial Times have sparked immediate reactions on social media.

In a public reaction on platform X, well-known Israeli strategist David Zaikin referred to one of Rama’s statements, in which the prime minister argued that foreign investment is positive and that accusations of links to crime are unfounded.

Zaikin writes that he agrees with Rama on only one point: that investment is good and that the mafia has another leader.

However, he adds that during his time governing as Prime Minister of Albania, according to Zaikin, “drug money has flooded into the country” and that “some oligarchs have captured tourism, retail trade and the energy sector.”

“I agree with Edi Rama: investment is good and the mafia has another leader. But during his rule, drug money has flooded in and some oligarchs have captured tourism, retail trade and energy. Albania needs new leadership and a caretaker government,” Zaikin writes.

The reaction comes after Rama’s interview with the Financial Times, in which the head of government dismissed the accusations of protesters who describe him as “The Godfather of Albania” and defended the major tourism projects being developed in the country.

In the interview, Rama declared that it is not his job to prove that he is not “The Godfather,” but rather for his opponents to prove otherwise.

The prime minister’s statements and the reactions that followed have become part of the public debate surrounding the ongoing protests against the government and the major investment projects in Albania’s coastal areas.
