Interior Ministry: “One Stop” is operational with Kosovo and Serbia, and is also expected soon with Albania

North Macedonia’s Ministry of Internal Affairs says the “One Stop” joint border control system is already being implemented at border crossings with Kosovo and Serbia. According to the ministry, with the signing of the agreement with the Republic of Albania, the process of introducing this modern model with all neighbors that are not part of the Schengen area is also being completed.

The ministry stressed that the agreement reached with the Republic of Albania represents the next significant step in this direction.

“We will soon introduce the One Stop system there as well, which will make Macedonia one of the first countries in the region to have this model of joint border controls with all neighboring countries outside the Schengen area.”

According to the ministry, implementing the “One Stop” system gives citizens only one stop and a single border check, as well as a significant reduction in waiting times. At the same time, states benefit from more efficient border management, increased security, more trade, tourism and regional connectivity.

“The results are already visible. In Tabanovce, even though the number of travelers has increased by 15 to 20 percent this summer, waiting times have been significantly reduced. We have enabled the same at Blace – Hani i Elezit, while with the launch of the system in Jazhinci – Globocicë we have completed the implementation of joint controls with the Republic of Kosovo,” the ministry said.

“This is not just an infrastructure or administrative project. It is an investment in faster communication between people, stronger economic cooperation, greater mobility and even safer borders. We continue to build a modern Ministry of Internal Affairs that implements European solutions which directly improve citizens’ daily lives and make Macedonia more connected, safer and more competitive,” the ministry said.
