The Ministry of Interior announced that 222 traffic violations by motorcyclists were recorded during a several-hour operation, while 14 people were arrested for reckless driving.

The operation was conducted yesterday, August 5, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. throughout the Republic of North Macedonia. It aimed to detect and penalize violations committed by motorcyclists.
Of the 222 riders penalized, 186 were not wearing protective helmets while riding. In addition, 14 riders were detained for the criminal offense stipulated under Article 297-a of the Criminal Code, and all had been operating their vehicles without a driving license. Fourteen motorcycles were also seized during the operation.
In addition to these cases, the checks resulted in penalties for 197 other traffic violations.
The Interior Ministry said road checks will continue in the coming days. The ministry called on all road users to comply with traffic rules and regulations, thereby contributing together to safer roads.
