Indictment Filed in Peja: Two Suspects Allegedly Obtained €134,761 by Promising a Kidney Transplant in Turkey

The Basic Prosecution Office in Peja has filed an indictment against V.H. and A.K., who are suspected of taking €134,761 from a person after promising to arrange a kidney transplant at a hospital in Turkey.

One of the suspects is a repeat offender and, according to information published by the media, is Valmir Hajrullahu.

According to the indictment, between May 26, 2021, and September 29, 2023, in the village of Lubeniq in Peja, V.H. falsely presented himself as a doctor specializing at a Turkish hospital.

He is suspected of promising the injured party that he would make it possible for him to undergo a kidney transplant, while requesting and receiving various sums of money for this purpose.

According to the Prosecution’s allegations, the money was purportedly requested to cover hospital expenses and procedures related to the transplant.

“With the aim of unlawfully obtaining financial gain, he is suspected of deceiving the injured party by misleading him and keeping him under a false impression through the misrepresentation of facts,” the Basic Prosecution Office in Peja said in a statement.

The Prosecution also alleges that V.H. used the details, documents, and names of doctors from a hospital in Turkey, seeking to convince the injured party that the procedure would be performed.

As a result of these actions, the material damage caused to the injured party amounts to €134,761.

A.K. is also suspected of assisting in the case. According to the Prosecution, he put the injured party in contact with V.H. and falsely introduced the latter as a doctor in Turkey, reinforcing the victim’s belief in his ability and capacity to arrange the transplant.

“The criminal proceedings against another person involved in the case, who according to the indictment is suspected of presenting himself as the kidney donor, have been separated,” the Prosecution stated.

The prosecution authority in Peja maintains that the defendants’ actions fulfill the elements of the criminal offenses with which they are charged.

After filing the indictment, the prosecutor in the case asked the court to find both defendants guilty and sentence them in accordance with the law.

However, the defendants will be presumed innocent until a final court decision is issued.
