In Dragash, the father of the suspect in the imam’s killing is also arrested

The Basic Prosecution Office in Prizren has announced that the person suspected of killing the imam in Dragash has been arrested, while his father has also been taken into custody.

According to the prosecution, a detention measure was imposed on the suspect’s father because he is suspected of failing to provide assistance to the victim after the stabbing.

The statement says: “By decision of the state prosecutor, the suspect B.H. has been detained for 48 hours on grounded suspicion that he committed the criminal offense of ‘Aggravated Murder,’ under the Criminal Code of the Republic of Kosovo. Likewise, his father has also been detained for 48 hours on grounded suspicion of committing the criminal offense of ‘Failure to Provide Assistance,’ under the Criminal Code of the Republic of Kosovo.”

The prosecution explained that B.H., after committing the criminal offense, had initially been on the run, but was later located and arrested thanks to intensive operational-investigative actions by the Kosovo Police.

According to the prosecution, the incident occurred on June 29, 2026, at around 23:15, in the village of Zlipotok in Dragash, where the victim, who was the village imam, was killed with a sharp object (knife).

The statement notes that the victim’s death was confirmed by a doctor at the scene, while the body was sent for autopsy to the Institute of Forensic Medicine (IFM) in Prishtina.

The statement also says: “The Basic Prosecution Office in Prizren, in cooperation with the Kosovo Police, is continuing intensive investigations to clarify the motives and full circumstances of this event. Within the legal deadline, the Prosecution will submit a request for the suspects to be remanded in custody.”
