Ilir Kërçeli Reveals LVV’s Proposal to PDK and LDK

Ilir Kërçeli, an MP from the Vetëvendosje Movement, has commented on the political situation and the process of electing the president. He stated that no candidate from LDK or any other party secured more than 120,000 votes.

Kërçeli compared the votes received by Glauk Konjufca, the Vetëvendosje Movement’s presidential nominee, with the combined result of LDK’s six most-voted candidates, PDK’s top three candidates, and AAK’s entire parliamentary group. According to him, the latter collectively received approximately as many votes as Konjufca.

The MP also explained the offer that he claims LVV presented to the other political parties.

In his post, Kërçeli reiterated that none of LDK’s candidates, nor any candidate from the other parties, surpassed the threshold of 120,000 votes.

He said that the votes received collectively by LDK’s top six names, PDK’s three leading candidates, and AAK’s entire parliamentary group were equal to those received by Glauk Konjufca, the Vetëvendosje Movement’s nominee for president.

According to Kërçeli, although Konjufca had been proposed for president and the country subsequently went to elections, the Vetëvendosje Movement made another concession. He said that LVV withdrew the political nominee to pave the way for a consensus candidate.

Explaining the offer to PDK, he said that the president would be elected by consensus, while the position of speaker of the Assembly would be given to PDK, thus securing it one of the three highest state offices. According to him, during the presidential vote, the party’s MPs could vote against the candidate, but they must participate in forming the institutions.

Regarding LDK, Kërçeli recalled that the party had entered government with 30 MPs, giving up both the presidency and the position of speaker of the Assembly in exchange for the deputy prime minister’s post and three ministers, or the position of speaker of the Assembly and three ministries. He stressed that the same offer is being made now, even though LDK has 18 MPs, while its MPs may be present during the vote and vote against the candidate.

Finally, Kërçeli stated that both LDK and PDK are demanding a vote on the speaker and deputy speakers of the Assembly, despite rejecting the proposal to form the institutions.
