For certain categories, they must also provide the vehicle’s weight or details that determine whether it is classified as a luxury vehicle.
The calculator compares the tax under the current system with the proposed tax for 2027 and explains how the calculation is made. It covers passenger cars, motorcycles, mixed-use vehicles, trucks, vans, buses, trailers and semi-trailers, as well as electric vehicles.
Will fuel savings offset the tax increase?
In addition to estimating the annual tax, the service also compares the potential impact of removing the turnover tax on diesel and petrol. By entering the number of kilometres they drive each year and their vehicle’s average fuel consumption, users can assess whether potential fuel savings would offset the increase in annual tax.
This estimate is based on the proposed removal of the tax of 27 lek per litre, or up to 32.4 lek including the effect of VAT. The savings depend on the full reduction being passed on at the pump.

The changes are expected to take effect on January 1, 2027, if approved by Parliament. The figures may change during the approval process, while the final amount payable will be determined by DPSHTRR.
The calculator does not include insurance, technical inspections, fines, other fees or legal exemptions for certain vehicle categories.
