Well-known journalist Artan Hoxha, speaking about the “house arrest” security measure imposed on SHISH director Vlora Hyseni, described the investigation as a major case and called on prosecutors to deepen their inquiries.

“I think this is a very large case file. This is simply a point at which the investigation gained traction because of the phones,” Hoxha said.

The journalist also discussed how Vlora Hyseni came to Albania and was subsequently appointed to head the State Intelligence Service.

Hyseni had previously served as Prime Minister Edi Rama’s national security adviser, while in 2023 he put her forward to lead SHISH.

“Vlora came from Kosovo’s intelligence structures, having been removed from her post after a clash with Kurti. When Rama brought her in, friction between Rama and Kurti had already begun. She had a great deal of information about Kosovo. She had been the prime minister’s adviser. Rama often does this, bringing people over from Kosovo. The person he appointed to the most significant position was the head of the secret service,” Hoxha said.

According to him, leading SHISH is particularly important because Albania is a NATO member and because the Albanian service cooperates with partner organizations.

“We are a NATO member country, and the secret service is important; it interacts and conducts joint operations,” the journalist said on “Shqipëria Live.”

Hoxha also commented on the fact that Vlora Hyseni was outside Albania when the security measure was reported.

“As recently as today, the chief is in Azerbaijan. I am convinced that the security measure was not issued today. House arrest is the same as imprisonment; it was imposed as a less restrictive measure,” Hoxha said.

Asked whether Hyseni would return to Albania, the journalist replied: “Yes, we are a European country and a NATO member. We would rather she left, because that would make the event even bigger, since she was the prime minister’s choice. But I believe that will not happen. I do not know the strength of the evidence, but I encourage prosecutors to deepen the investigation and determine how far the corruption goes.”
