Hoti: The Serb List does not represent all Serbs, Kosovo is not Belgrade

Andin Hoti, acting minister for Labour, Family and the Values of the Liberation War, has reacted to statements by Serb List MP Sllavko Simiq regarding the representation of the Serb community in the Kosovo Assembly.

In a Facebook post, Hoti criticized Simiq’s political approach, linking it to the positions of the official authorities in Belgrade and Serbia’s president, Aleksandar Vuçiq.

According to Hoti, the Serb List cannot present itself as the voice of the entire Serb people. He also stressed that the Serb community’s candidate for the post of deputy speaker of the Assembly must be proposed by Serb MPs, in accordance with Kosovo’s constitutional rules.

“It must be clear: the Serb List is not the Serb people,” Hoti wrote.

He recalled that Kosovo is a democratic republic and that the Constitution guarantees the rights of all communities. However, Hoti said that these rights should not be turned into a tool for implementing Belgrade’s policy within Kosovo’s institutions.

Hoti concluded his reaction with a direct message to Sllavko Simiq and the Serb List.

“Kosovo is not Serbia. The Kosovo Assembly is not Belgrade,” Hoti concluded.
