A serious criminal incident shocked Gjilan on Friday afternoon, October 9. Two people—a 27-year-old woman and her 31-year-old brother—were killed in a shooting in Livoç i Ulët, while a 48-year-old man was seriously injured. The husband of the 27-year-old woman has been detained in connection with the incident.

According to a statement from the Basic Prosecutor’s Office in Gjilan, the suspect, V.R., 38, is suspected of shooting his wife, N.B., 27, and her brother, E.B., 31, killing them. M.B., 48, the son of the suspect’s wife’s paternal uncle, was also seriously injured in the shooting.

The 31-year-old man was found dead inside a vehicle at the scene, while the woman was taken to Gjilan General Hospital, where she arrived with no signs of life.

The injured man received first aid in Gjilan and was then transferred to the University Clinical Center of Kosovo (UCCK) in Pristina for further treatment. According to reports published on Friday evening, his condition was serious.

The suspect turned himself in to police

Following the incident, the suspect turned himself in to police. Authorities seized the firearm allegedly used in the crime.

The prosecution said the weapon was a Beretta pistol with an expired permit. Searches were also conducted at three locations linked to the suspect’s properties, where material evidence was seized.

The suspect was detained on suspicion of the criminal offenses of aggravated murder and unauthorized possession of a weapon.

The motive

By the time the prosecution’s statement was published, the motive for the incident had not been disclosed. The suspect has no known criminal record and no previous cases of reported domestic violence.

The Kosovo Police and the Basic Prosecutor’s Office in Gjilan said they were continuing their investigation to fully clarify the circumstances of the serious incident.

Authorities are expected to establish the full sequence of events and the motives that led to the use of the firearm, while the condition of the injured person remains one of the important elements in the case’s further developments.
