Haxhiu: Suspected Second Mass Grave Shows Justice Has Yet to Be Served

Suspicions that a second mass grave exists bring back painful memories of the crimes committed during the war and show that justice has yet to be fully served, said Kosovo Assembly Speaker and Acting President Albulena Haxhiu.

In a statement on Facebook, Haxhiu stressed that establishing sovereignty and constitutional order throughout the territory of the Republic of Kosovo, beyond being an institutional responsibility, was a necessary condition for shedding light on the fate of those forcibly disappeared, uncovering mass graves and returning the victims’ remains to their families.

She expressed gratitude and full support for the institutions of the Republic of Kosovo, professional teams, forensic experts and all those working with dedication and professionalism to establish the fate of the forcibly disappeared.

According to Haxhiu, their work represents a valuable contribution in the service of truth, justice and human dignity. She said that every grave uncovered brings the truth closer, but at the same time shows that the wounds of war will remain open until the last missing person is found and those responsible for these crimes are brought to justice.

Haxhiu also expressed her deepest solidarity with the victims’ families, who have been waiting for more than two decades to learn the fate of their loved ones. She assured them that the Republic of Kosovo would remain committed to fully uncovering the truth and honoring the memory of the victims with dignity.
