The chairman of the Democratic Party of Kosovo, Bedri Hamza, gathered the parliamentary group of his political party to brief its members on the meeting he held a day earlier with the leader of the Vetëvendosje Movement, Albin Kurti.

Speaking to reporters, Hamza stressed that the PDK’s position was not solely about the party’s interests, saying that the Kosovo Liberation Army stands above every political organization.
He added that Kosovo is more important than anything else.
Hamza: If someone else is seeking new elections, that is another matter
“The PDK’s request and position is not about the PDK. Because the KLA is greater than the PDK. Kosovo’s history, present and future are greater than everything. Kosovo is greater than us. We were saying: approve the law in both readings, then nominate a candidate for president, elect the president and avoid elections. If someone else has a plan to take the country to elections, that is another matter,” Hamza declared.
PDK lawmaker Ganimete Musliu said, before the start of the meeting of the parliamentary group and the party presidium, that her party had never shied away from its state responsibilities.
Musliu stressed that they were trying to do what was best for Kosovo.
Musliu: The PDK has never shied away from its state responsibilities
“The Democratic Party of Kosovo has never shied away from its state and institutional responsibilities, and it is not shying away today either. We are trying to do what is best for Kosovo. Under the circumstances we are in, we are always trying to do what is best for Kosovo; therefore, today’s meeting is part of our efforts,” Musliu said.
She announced that she would provide details about the discussions after the meeting, but stressed that the issue that could not wait was the law on the Specialist Chambers.
Musliu: The law on the Specialist Chambers cannot wait; other issues can
“I will not give you any hypothetical answers now. When I leave the meeting, I will tell you what we discussed, but since we have not yet entered the meeting, that is all I can say. Once again, as the Democratic Party, we never shy away from our state and institutional responsibilities. Under the circumstances we are in, we are trying to do what is best for Kosovo. What cannot wait at the moment is the law on the Specialist Chambers; the others can wait,” she added.
Monday’s meeting between PDK Chairman Bedri Hamza and Vetëvendosje leader Albin Kurti did not produce an agreement.
In addition to the issue of the president, the PDK is insisting that by October 6, the Assembly of Kosovo approve in both readings the Draft Law amending the Law on the Specialist Chambers, which was submitted by the government on Friday.
Meanwhile, in a decision dated September 23, Kosovo’s Constitutional Court clarified that the 60-day deadline for electing the president began on August 8, the day the Assembly was constituted, and ends on October 6.
