A shooting attack shook the coastal city of Sarandë today, September 20.

It is learned that 44-year-old Artan Murtaj was the victim of the attack. A random passerby, Xhevdet Skëndaj, was also injured.

As you can see in the footage, Murtaj’s lifeless body is lying in the middle of Sarandë, where the attack took place.

The victim’s body has been covered with a sheet. Numerous citizens witnessed the scene of the serious crime that occurred on Sunday morning. It is learned that the victim’s mother also arrived at the scene, where she wept for her deceased son.

Artan Myrtaj was shot dead by two people on a motorcycle, who were also wearing helmets.

Who is the victim Artan Myrtaj and the saga of crimes in Sarandë

The victim is Artan Myrtaj, 44, known as “Tani Ruzhdiu”. The 44-year-old has numerous criminal precedents and was involved in a wounding incident in Sarandë one year earlier. Murtaj was involved in the July 17, 2025 incident in neighborhood No. 4, where Ernest Lama and Gëzim Hajdaraj from Kamza were wounded by gunfire. The perpetrator of the shooting was 44-year-old Ramadan Zoto, while Artan Myrta, Klaus Jacaj and Erjon Canaj assisted him during the incident and his escape.

Following this incident, a saga of revenge began in Sarandë. Klaus Jacaj’s father, Isuf Jacaj, was killed with explosives, while Ramadan Zoto’s property was also destroyed in another incident. Ramadan Zoto is currently in prison for wounding Lama and Hajdaraj, while Artan Myrta and Klaus Jacaj, who were charged with “assisting the perpetrator of the crime”, were released from prison a short time ago.

Only Erjon Canaj remains wanted. Artan Myrtaj is also known to use narcotics and has previously been convicted of “theft”.
