Gucati: OVL-UÇK will support peaceful protests and calls for the abolition of the Special Court

Hysni Gucati, chairman of the OVL-UÇK, said the organization would support any popular protest, as long as it was peaceful.

According to him, this support will also include the students’ protest, while the possibility of OVL-UÇK itself organizing protests will be considered at the leadership meeting.

“The veterans’ organization will always stand behind every initiative for a popular protest,” Gucati said, stressing that protests must not be accompanied by violence.

Students are demanding the release of the former KLA leaders and insist that no decision changes the way they view their liberators.

Gucati added that OVL-UÇK would continue supporting the protests until their goals were achieved.

He also spoke about the PDK’s draft law, which provides for amendments and additions to the Law on Specialist Chambers. He described the initiative as a positive step, but clarified that OVL-UÇK’s position goes beyond this proposal.

“It is good that they submitted it—better late than never,” he said.

Nevertheless, the chairman of OVL-UÇK called on political parties to unite in demanding the complete abolition of the Special Court.

Gucati said that the organization had already submitted its five points on the matter and expected lawmakers to support initiatives aimed at changing the current situation.
