Government changes, Berisha attacks Rama: He took control of Health, while Demo has ties to gangs and the head of SPAK

During a discussion with followers on social media, Democratic Party leader Sali Berisha spoke about the latest changes to the government cabinet.

His comments focused on the new health minister, Klodiana Spahiu, and the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Ervin Demo.

Referring to the Health Ministry, Berisha described the situation in the sector as extremely dire and claimed that the new appointment bears the mark of what he called the “black hand of Surrel.”

The Democratic Party leader said that he does not know Spahiu personally and does not wish to prejudge her because of her family ties.

However, he questioned the choice of an economist to lead the Ministry of Health, also noting that she is the prime minister’s cousin.

According to Berisha, with this appointment, Edi Rama himself has taken actual control of the Health Ministry. He described the new minister as a figure with no decision-making power and as a “puppet in the hands of Surrel.” These statements represent accusations and political assessments made by the Democratic Party leader.

Berisha also addressed former health minister Evis Sala, whom he described as one of the best professionals in the field of medical imaging.

He said that Sala has made contributions in Cambridge, New York and Rome, but, according to him, instead of working in her specialty, she was appointed to the ministerial post because Edi Rama intended to use her to steal.

Continuing his social media discussion, Berisha also commented on the appointment of Ervin Demo to lead the Ministry of Internal Affairs. Rama announced the appointment on September 11, while Demo was sworn in as minister on September 18.

Regarding the new interior minister, the Democratic Party leader claimed that he had been “molded by Albania’s most dangerous gangs” and that this was precisely why he had been appointed to the position.

Berisha also mentioned an alleged incident from the period when Demo headed the Municipality of Berat and accused him of being “linked to crime.” These claims are accusations made by Berisha and are not presented as verified information.

Without providing evidence in his statement, Berisha also claimed that Ervin Demo has close ties to the head of SPAK.
