Berisha Accuses Rama of Drug Scheme: Another “Yefet” Behind State-Owned Company, KAYO Involved in Arms Trafficking

Democratic Party leader Sali Berisha has leveled serious accusations against the government over an initiative by the Ministry of Health that, according to him, aims to place the trade in medicines and healthcare services under state control.

Responding to questions from citizens, Berisha claimed that the process would begin with the creation of a state-owned company, which would later be privatized and handed over to a businessman with ties to Prime Minister Edi Rama. He called this person another “Yefet” and said the Democratic Party was investigating the matter.

According to the DP leader, the aim of this scheme is for Rama and the businessman in question to profit from and split hundreds upon hundreds of millions of euros from the trade in medicines. Berisha said that nationalizing the sector would return the country to the conditions of the Hoxha dictatorship, claiming that not even Belarus has such a system, but only North Korea.

He also accused the prime minister of taking 20-25% from every tender and transaction, but stressed that the plan in this case goes even further. According to Berisha, once the state-owned company is established, it will be privatized in favor of the person he described as “the other Yefet.”

During the discussion, Bulent Tupi asked Berisha about his position on the Ministry of Health’s initiative to centralize the healthcare system and monopolize services and medicines on the market. Tupi said the situation resembled the case of the company KAYO, in which, according to him, Edi Rama transferred the majority of the shares to his Israeli friend, Roni Yefet, who is currently facing fraud proceedings in a Florida court.

Tupi added that Minister Sala had yet to respond to the issue and expressed the view that the Democratic Party should demand its immediate withdrawal.

In response, Berisha described the decision as an attempt by Edi Rama to secure hundreds of millions of euros in profits for his family from the trade in medicines. He said another person had been lined up to take over the company once it was established and assured that this person’s ties to Rama would be made public immediately afterward.

Berisha also spoke about a person he described as an international trafficker, accusing him of deceiving Albanians and the world by claiming that Albania produces high-quality armored vehicles, while his company has only 11 employees. He described the work that, according to him, the government had assigned to this businessman as heinous criminal acts.

The Democratic leader claimed that, through the medicine scheme, warehouses in Africa, Asia and other countries would be emptied, while Albanian citizens would be supplied with medicines that fail to meet any standards. According to him, hundreds of millions of euros in profits would then be split between Edi Rama and the person described as “the other Yefet.”

Linking the initiative to the company KAYO, Berisha described its operations as extremely problematic and accused it of involvement in international arms trafficking and other activities. He said the Democratic Party would work both domestically and internationally to uncover the details of the case and present the truth, in the interest of the security of Albania and its partners.
