“Golden Sabre 2026”, the major security exercise between local and international institutions

At Camp Vrella, on July 2 and 3, 2026, the joint exercise “Golden Sabre 2026” will take place, with the participation of members of KFOR, EULEX, the Kosovo Police, and the Emergency Management Agency (AME).

The Kosovo Security Force (KSF) will also be part of this exercise, in line with its initial mandate in the field of civil protection.

According to the announcement, the exercise is expected to involve a large number of personnel, vehicles, and equipment, both in the area where the activity will be held and on the surrounding roads.

This exercise aims to test capacities and procedures for crisis management in various complex security scenarios, including the safe handling and disposal of explosive devices and hazardous materials.

KFOR Commander Major General Ozkan Ulutaş stressed that this exercise reflects the continued commitment to increasing cooperation and coordination among security institutions, for the benefit of all citizens in Kosovo.

KFOR also announced that it will continue to implement its mandate, based on UN Security Council Resolution 1244 of 1999, by helping to create a safe and secure environment for all citizens, as well as guaranteeing freedom of movement in close cooperation with the Kosovo Police and EULEX in their respective roles.
