GJKKO extends investigation into Renis Dobra’s murder by 3 months, defense lawyers for Bushgjokaj brothers object: No elements of kidnapping

The Special Court has accepted SPAK’s request to extend the investigation deadline by three months for Aleksandër, Kristi, and Fation Bushgjokaj, as well as Petrit Çakri, accused of the murder of young Renis Dobra.

The prosecution argued that investigations must continue until October, as several important procedural actions remain to be completed.

According to SPAK, it is necessary to complete the examination of mobile phones and perform fingerprint cross-matching, which are considered important for fully clarifying the event.

The request was opposed by lawyer Erjon Kullolli, legal defender of Fation Bushgjokaj. He claimed that SPAK has had the objective opportunity to perform these investigative actions within the existing deadlines and that there is no reason for further postponement of the investigations.

According to the lawyer, up to this stage of the process, the Special Prosecution has failed to prove the elements of the criminal offense of “kidnapping,” nor has it argued that this offense was committed in the context of a structured criminal group’s special cooperation.

How the event happened

The event occurred on July 8, 2025, while 23-year-old Renis Dobra was found dead on July 9 near Shkopet Lake. Police have confirmed from video footage and evidence that all four individuals—Fatjon Bushgjoka (arrested), Aleksandër Bushgjoka, Kristi Bushgjoka, and Petrit Çakrri—participated in the kidnapping of the 23-year-old.

A few days after the event, Petrit Çakrri was arrested at the entrance to Tropoja. Meanwhile, the main investigative lead continues to be the drug conflict in Germany between the victim and the Bushgjokaj brothers. However, the possibility is not excluded that the Bushgjokaj brothers and Petrit Çakrri received orders from third parties precisely for narcotics trafficking.
