Genc Pollo calls on opposition to confront majority in Parliament: Renaissance abuses must be opposed in session

Former Democratic Party lawmaker Genc Pollo has shared his opinion on the opposition’s decision to withdraw from plenary sessions. He emphasizes that the parliamentary arena remains the right place to confront the majority.

Through a post on social media, Pollo noted that for ten days opposition representatives have been absent from Assembly meetings. This form of protest aims to oppose what he calls “illegal violations by the socialist majority.”

According to him, the ruling political force is not allowing two important initiatives of the democratic group to be included in the agenda. These are proposals aimed at regulating the legal framework for protected areas and the annulment of the law that paves the way for the “strategic investor.”

He acknowledged that such practices are not new, but have been present throughout the last decade. Nevertheless, Pollo remains convinced that the most fruitful way to expose and challenge these actions remains the Assembly podium and then other platforms, combining argument with concrete action.

At the end of his statement, he expressed confidence that opposition forces will re-engage with determination and renewed energy in the July sessions, as well as in those of the next parliamentary session during the autumn.
