Gazmend Muhaxheri Reveals His Position on Vjosa Osmani’s Return to the LDK and the Leadership Race

Gazmend Muhaxheri, the mayor of Peja and a member of the Democratic League of Kosovo’s leadership, said he had not opposed Vjosa Osmani’s return to the party.

When asked directly whether he had been against her return, he gave a brief answer: “No.”

However, when subsequently asked whether the decision had borne fruit, Muhaxheri said the election result had not demonstrated that. He added that Vjosa Osmani remains a major asset, also because of the positions she has taken while serving as president.

Regarding the possibility of her running for party leader, Muhaxheri stressed that the process would be open and that Osmani herself should provide the answer.

A month ago, the LDK branch in Peja, led by Muhaxheri, called on the current leader, Lumir Abdixhiku, to resign as a moral act following the party’s poor result in the June 7 elections.
