Flames engulf several hectares of forest on Mount Polis; firefighters and forestry service on the scene

The forested massif of Mount Polis, in the Polis Administrative Unit of the Librazhd municipality, has been engulfed by a large-scale fire.

Residents report that the situation is alarming, as the flames have spread across several hectares of forest. High temperatures and drought are creating conditions that favor the fire’s rapid advance.

Efforts to extinguish the fire are further complicated by the dry debris left after interventions in this forested area, which in recent years has been exploited under permits by private companies.

Firefighters and the forestry service have arrived at the scene and are working to contain the hotspots in order to prevent the flames from spreading.
