A powerful fire broke out around midday today near the village of Hekal, specifically in the area known as “Qafa e Vidhit.”

Fanned by strong winds, the flames spread rapidly, scorching an area of more than 10 hectares, mostly planted with olive trees and low vegetation.
As soon as the alarm was raised, six firefighting vehicles from the Ballsh, Patos, Roskovec and Albpetrol units were deployed to the scene, immediately engaging in efforts to contain and extinguish the fires.
The fire front came within approximately 100 meters of homes and oil extraction wells, but thanks to the rapid response of the emergency teams, the most serious consequences were avoided. No residential building or installation in the hydrocarbon sector was damaged in the incident.
The responsible authorities are continuing to monitor the area to prevent any possible reignition of the flames.
