Five people arrested near US base in Britain as suspected explosives plot and Iran links investigated

Five men have been arrested near RAF Fairford air base in Britain as part of an investigation into suspected preparations for a terrorist act and explosives-related offences.

Searches in the area are continuing, with British bomb disposal teams also inspecting three vehicles. As a precaution, dozens of homes near the scene have been evacuated.

According to counterterrorism police, all five suspects remain in custody. The investigation is at an early stage, and authorities have not disclosed their identities or the suspected motive.

British media report that local residents may have helped alert the authorities. This account differs from a statement by US President Donald Trump, who said the suspects had been under surveillance for a long time.

Two controlled explosions were heard near the base during the operation. Authorities continue to work at the scene.

RAF Fairford is used by the US Air Force and has served as a base for American long-range bombers. British and American authorities have tightened security measures as the investigation continues.
