Meanwhile, president Donald Trump, in a media appearance from the White House, hinted that a new deal with Iran might still be possible. The White House chief, who had previously signaled that military action was on the table, also asked the United States’ international partners to cover the financial costs. “I expect the countries we are protecting to pay us back,” he said.

According to recent reports, the Trump administration has announced the imposition of a new maritime embargo precisely in the Strait of Hormuz. The American leader declared that the management of this strategic waterway will pass under the jurisdiction of the United States and that any ship transiting through the Persian Gulf will be subject to a transit tax.
