Fire on Mount Tërbun spreads rapidly, flames approach Puka, aerial intervention requested

The situation caused by the fire on Mount Tërbun in Puka has deteriorated significantly, as the flames have spiraled out of control. Fanned by strong winds, they have spread across a front of more than 12 kilometers and engulfed considerable areas of tall pine forest.

The fire continues to advance toward the Pezhvë neighborhood in the city of Puka, increasing the risk to populated areas. The difficult mountainous terrain prevents firefighting vehicles from approaching the blaze.

For this reason, army personnel and firefighters are attempting to contain the spread on only one side, using makeshift equipment, while controlling the entire perimeter remains impossible.

Faced with the scale of the emergency, local authorities have been requesting immediate intervention by helicopter from central institutions since the morning hours. According to them, this is the only way to prevent a catastrophe.

Preliminary investigations have raised strong suspicions that the fire may have been started deliberately. However, so far the police have neither detained nor identified anyone as the perpetrator of the arson.
