Fire in Librazhd Engulfs Forested Area and Threatens Homes in Xhyrë

A major fire broke out this afternoon in the area between the villages of Xhyrë and Vehçan, in the Hotolisht Administrative Unit of the Municipality of Librazhd. The flames are burning a forested area covered with acacia trees and shrubs.

The fire started around noon and, fueled by the terrain and dry vegetation, has spread rapidly in several directions, affecting a considerable area.

The danger increased particularly after 17:00, when the flames approached homes in the area of Xhyrë’s former railway station, as well as the Librazhd-Prrenjas national road.

To deal with the situation and prevent the fire from spreading toward residential areas, dozens of firefighting vehicles and MFS personnel from Librazhd, Elbasan, Gramsh and Cërrik have been deployed at the scene. The teams are working to halt the advance of the flames and protect homes and other buildings near the fire.
