Fire Engulfs Vehicle Collection Site in Selenica, Dozens of Vehicles Burned

At midday on Wednesday, dozens of vehicles were destroyed by a fire that broke out in the village of Penkova, within the municipality of Selenica.

The flames engulfed a site where vehicles were collected for spare parts, causing considerable material damage.

After the incident was reported, firefighting crews from Selenica, Vlora and Himara were dispatched to the area.

Their intervention made it possible to contain the flames and prevent the fire from spreading to surrounding areas, while the operation continued until all active hotspots had been fully extinguished.

The business owner, Tomian Hysaj, said the economic damage amounts to approximately 35 million old lek. He appealed to Selenica Municipality and state institutions to help him cope with the losses.

Arqile Kokalli, head of Civil Emergencies at Selenica Municipality, said cooperation among the firefighting teams helped bring the situation under control and prevent the fire from spreading further.

No injuries were reported in the incident. The cause of the fire has not yet been determined and is expected to be established by an investigation conducted by the relevant authorities.
