Filipche: Families’ monthly expenses have risen sharply, while wages have failed to keep pace

The leader of the SDSM, Venko Filipche, said that over the past two years the consumer basket had become approximately 10,000 denars more expensive, rising from around 60,000 to nearly 70,000 denars. According to him, wage growth has not kept pace with the cost of living.

He said that when rent or a housing loan installment is added to basic expenses, the amount a family needs each month reaches around 90,000 denars.

“Within a year and a half, the consumer basket has increased by approximately 10,000 denars. From 60,000 denars, it has now reached almost 70,000. If rent or a housing loan is also taken into account, monthly expenses reach nearly 90,000 denars,” Filipche said.

According to the SDSM leader, in the face of rising product prices and the overall increase in the cost of living, the government has not taken any special measures to help citizens.

“Since the beginning of the crisis, fuel prices have increased by more than 20 percent. No measures have been approved for any category of citizens,” Filipche declared./Telegrafi/
