Filipçe challenges Mickoski in Parliament: Fulfill your promises on the name and the Prespa Agreement

During today’s parliamentary question session, SDSM leader Venko Filipçe reminded Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski of his pledges to restore the country’s name, repeal the Prespa Agreement, review the agreement with Bulgaria and improve the negotiating framework.

Filipçe asked Mickoski to say which of his promises he had fulfilled, rather than presenting as achievements pledges that, according to Filipçe, had not been kept.

“Prime Minister, you have the opportunity now. Citizens expect the name to be restored, so restore it. They expect the Prespa Agreement to be annulled, so annul it. They expect changes or improvements to the agreement with Bulgaria; make them. They also expect the negotiating framework to be improved, which you have promised 100 times. Take action to better protect the language, even though we have signed an agreement with the European Union in the Macedonian language,” Filipçe said.

He said Mickoski continues to use the issue of Macedonian identity and language for political purposes, while President Gordana Sijanovska-Davkova and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen have said they are protected.

Filipçe stressed that Macedonia can pursue its path toward Europe while preserving its identity and the Macedonian language.

“Perhaps you will continue to defend your identity and language when you open the swimming pools. However, Gordana Sijanovska has told you that both are protected, while President von der Leyen has delivered the same message: we are waiting for you in Europe with your identity and language,” Filipçe said./Telegrafi/
